The Cornish Cream Tea Wedding by Cressida McLaughlin

Thank you to Anne of Random Things Tours for the invitation to join the blog tour and to Harper Collins for a copy of this gorgeous book to read and review. I discovered this series of books last year when I read and reviewed The Cornish Cream Tea Christmas (see my review at https://mentoringmumof2bookreviews.home.blog/2020/12/17/the-cornish-cream-tea-christmas-by-cressida-mclaughlin/). I also shared a mini review for book 1 yesterday, the story of how the bride and groom in this book meet (https://mentoringmumof2bookreviews.home.blog/2021/06/05/the-cornish-cream-tea-bus-by-cressida-mclaughlin/)

Synopsis:

Love is in the Cornish summer air…

Wedding planner Ellie Moon is dreaming up the most beautiful bespoke wedding for Charlie and Daniel, owners of Cornwall’s favourite cream tea bus. Even though her own life has been turned upside down and she’s had to rent out her charming Cornish cottage with its climbing roses and lavender beds, Ellie is determined to give them a day to remember.

Her new tenant, handsome mechanic Jago, keeps popping up around the picture-postcard seaside village of Porthgolow. When they’re thrown together in the effort to help his elderly father get a spring back in his step, she discovers that he is full of surprises. Can romance bloom and give Ellie the fresh start she’s been wishing for?

My thoughts:

It was lovely to return to Porthgolow, to catch up with the residents and to meet the new wedding planner, Ellie, who is trying to organise the perfect wedding for Charlie and Daniel.

Ellie has rented her cottage to Jago, to save money to help her business, but finds herself spending more time with her tenant and then his father than she originally planned.

I loved reading this book, full of great characters, delicious food and plans for weddings. In a time when weddings are being postponed or have severely limited numbers, it was a treat to enjoy wedding preparations without a Covid issue.

The book does tackle tough issues, such as family disagreements and relationship problems, but is also filled with friendship, kindness, romance and humour (and a giant pig). Happy to recommend book 4 in the Cornish Cream Tea Bus series for a summer staycation read – you don’t need to read the earlier books to enjoy this one, but they are lovely too.
