Thank you to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours and Harper Collins for the invitation to join the blog tour for On a Night Like This, and a copy of the book to read and review.
Synopsis:
Within days of wishing she could change her life, Fran Cooper is acting assistant to a celebrity, on a yacht in the Mediterranean, and en route to a tiny Italian island and the glittering Crystal Ball, along with the world’s rich and famous.
When she – quite literally – bumps into a handsome American called Evan, a man able to keep his cool in the face of chaos, the magic really begins.
Evan makes her a promise: no last names, no life stories, just one unforgettable night. Yet Evan belongs at the Crystal Ball and Fran is a gatecrasher. They may be soulmates, but their homes are an ocean apart, and their lives a world apart. They’ll never meet again – unless, on a night like this, everything can change forever…

My thoughts:
Lindsey Kelk‘s latest paperback book used to accompany me on my summer holidays in those pre-Covid days, that seem so long ago. So I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to read and review On A Night Like This.
On A Night Like This was a much needed break from the real world and probably should be prescribed by medical professionals as a ‘feel good’ book during dark winter days.
Fran quickly became one of my favourite book characters of 2021. She is trying to please everyone from her boyfriend Stew to the celebrity singer she is hired to ‘look after’.
However events lead to her being trapped on the tiny island hosting the Crystal Ball, with a fairy godmother make up artist and a selection of beautiful gowns. Should she stay in her hotel room or should Francesca go to the ball?
Other reviewers have likened this to a modern day Cinderella story and I totally understand why. Francesca experiences a very different event, one that only the immensely rich would normally attend. But will she be impressed by the excesses or will she feel sorry for Evan for being stuck in this world? You will need to read a copy of the book to find out what happens.
Happy to recommend this fabulous book to readers of my book review blog. The book was published in the UK in hardback last week.
